T-Seam Standing Seam
Our T-Seam® Standing Seam systems are the only type applicable for low-slope roofs as they can be watertight with the use of seams that either incorporate sealant in the seam or use double-lock-type seams.
Before we share with you why our T-Seam® is your ideal standing seam solution, let us first share a few details about what standing seam roofing systems really are, their characteristics and why they supersede in quality, finishing, and performance the conventional sheet metal roofing systems.
By definition, standing seam roofing systems are metal roof systems that feature long, narrow panels. The long edge of the panel is oriented from gutter to ridge or valley. Upright, vertical edges folded closed on site join the long panels. Interlocking seams snap together, simplifying installation.
Standing-seam systems are the only type applicable for low-slope roofs because they can be watertight with the use of seams that either incorporate sealant in the seam or use double-lock-type seams.
Standing-seam systems also are applicable for steep-slope architectural roofs. They do not have exposed fasteners except at isolated locations, so they require less maintenance.
Perhaps the greatest advantage of standing-seam metal roofing is the ability to fabricate the panels on site using coils of sheet metal and a roll-forming machine. This process enables the fabricator to create panels that are continuous from ridge to gutter on each unique roof section.
Long panels eliminate cross laps, as well as reduce the potential leaks and the need for sealant maintenance. The disadvantage with long, continuous panels is the design requirement for thermal movement.
Sheet metal systems coated with highly reflective surfaces and designed with insulation and ventilation also can provide considerable cost savings for heating and cooling.
Roof surfaces also should have high emission ratings to allow solar energy and heat to dissipate quickly.
Innovative cool roof coatings for metal roofs have moderate to highly reflective surfaces over a range of colors — not just white — and some engineered coatings can increase the emissivity of the metal roof surface.
Thermal expansion and contraction is a great concern with metal roofing systems and is most acute with standing-seam systems because long panel runs can exceed 30 meters in length. The amount of thermal movement is a function of the panel’s length, the magnitude of the temperature change, and the coefficient of thermal expansion specific to the type of metal.
In climates where the diurnal temperature change is great — sometimes more than 100 degrees — a 120-foot-long piece of steel sheet metal can expand and contract more than 1 inch in length.
This thermal movement can pull out screws, elongate holes in panels, and cause panels to shift or bend.
A thoroughly design of the entire system using hidden clips and other attachment techniques allows for this thermal movement but prevent wind uplift. Installers must anchor systems at one end, typically at a ridge, and allow for movement provided at the opposing end, typically the gutter edge.
Aluminum-alloy coatings provide corrosion protection on steel sheet metal, but they react with alkaline chemicals in masonry mortar and cleaning solutions that might spill on the metal’s surface during construction.
Sheet metal underlay prevents moisture that condenses on the underside of the metal from leaking down into the building. The location of penetrations also is important on standing-seam roofs because it is difficult to seal a penetration that enters the roof through a rib or standing seam.

Ideal for use on new buildings as well as retrofit applications, standing T?Seam® profiles are available in various widths and heights to accommodate almost any project. In most instances, T?Seam® panels are roll formed on site by a portable T?Seam® manufacturing machine, thereby safeguarding against panel damage during transportation.
Unlike other standing seam systems, T?Seam® has the added benefit of being produced in any width combination between 303 and 500mm (for the straight, concave and convex designed T-Seam®).
In addition, T-Seam® is also characterized by its Performance and value for money as detailed here below:
Special pigmented organic color coatings to the base material of the roof not only enhances the aesthetic appearance but also act as an additional corrosion protection. The choice of colors allows the architects to coordinate the roof with other design elements of the building.
Durable and corrosion resistant
T-Seam® metal roofs are designed to ensure long-term durability and an aesthetically pleasing appearance while being resistant to corrosion and fading.
T-Seam® roofs are engineered to withstand rain, wind, snow and sun. Each panel is joined together by a mechanically locked T-Seam® raised above the roof’s drainage plane. The joint-free T-Seam® panel ensures that your roof will be leak-free for years to come.
T-Seam® is a breathing roof, in the sense it allows the trapped moisture to escape through the seam. The T-Seam® joints do not use any sealants. The weather tightness is guaranteed with the capillary groove provided in the small seam.
T-Seam® roof ensures adequate drainage from rain and snow, thus solving water leakage problems. The system is uniquely designed to handle the effects from thermal movements. The clips used in the system have a movable feature that allows the panels to expand and contract with temperature changes.
T-Seam® roofs can be used in almost any situation, from commercial to residential, from small storage buildings to large manufacturing plants. This roofing system lasts longer, needs less maintenance and offers superb versatility. Unlike flat built-up roofs that require frequent maintenance, T-Seam® roofs offer 15 years and more of trouble free performance with minimum maintenance and expense.
